A worked example

Choose PNG or WebP when transparency needs to survive conversion.

Input / settings

A transparent PNG
Output format: JPEG; quality: 80

Expected result

A JPEG with the same pixel dimensions; transparent areas become white.
A LITTLE GUIDANCE

How to use Image converter

Choose one or more PNG, JPEG or WebP images and an output format. Set quality for JPEG or WebP, then select Convert image. Download a single result or a ZIP containing the successful batch results.

Good to know

Choose up to 10 files / 30 MB combined; each file must be PNG, JPEG or WebP, at most 20 MB and 40 megapixels. Processing stays in your browser. Animation and original metadata are not preserved. Keep your originals.

A few quick answers.

What happens to transparency when I choose JPEG?

JPEG does not support transparency. Transparent areas are placed on white. Choose PNG or WebP to retain alpha; browser export support can vary.

Is my input sent to a server?

No. This tool processes your input in your browser. We don't store your text, files or results. Standard website access logs are separate; read our privacy notes.

Can I use it for free?

Yes. No account, subscription or usage credits are required.

How do I keep my result?

Use Copy or Download after running the tool. Inputs are not saved automatically and disappear when you leave or refresh the page.

Image workflow and quality guide

Choose a format for your image

PNG preserves the rendered pixels without lossy encoding and supports transparency, but photographs may be large. JPEG suits opaque photos; this tool fills transparent areas with white. WebP supports transparency with adjustable lossy quality. Browser export support is checked; unsupported formats return an error.

Conversion is not restoration

Converting a JPEG to PNG does not recover detail already lost to JPEG compression. Pixel dimensions stay the same. Canvas re-encoding does not preserve original metadata or animation; keep your originals if you need camera metadata or multiple frames.

Check alpha and actual bytes

For a transparent PNG exported as JPEG at quality 80, the expected result has the same dimensions and a white background. Use PNG or WebP to retain transparency. Compare the decoded result preview and byte report: a new format can be larger, not smaller.

Batch results and ZIP contents

The same settings apply to every selected image. Review each result: a batch may contain both successful and failed files. The ZIP includes successful images and results.txt with the report; it does not silently include failed originals. Batch output is bounded to 100 MB. If a limit is reached, use smaller batches. ZIP packaging does not add image-quality loss.

Choose your next step: resize dimensions, change image format, compare compression or rotate and mirror. Download the result before opening it in another tool.

Keep your flow going.
